Happy Holidays from R.O. Blechman

During the 1960s, CBS took the time to wish the audience happy holidays. This is a beautiful spot by animator and illustrator R. O. Blechman. Blechman is an animator, cartoonist, graphic novelist, and illustrator. The musical saw in the spot is a sweet symbol of peace and the holiday spirit.

Blechman was inducted into the Art Director’s Hall Of Fame, and he was honored at MOMA in 2003 with a special showing of the animated version of Igor Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale which he wrote and directed. You can watch a few minutes of it here.

Take some time to look at his work. It’s marvelous. He has many books available, and if you have any interest in animation, he’s a fellow you should know about.
