The Addam’s Family Saw! Happy Halloween!

I’ve posted this in the past, but it’s worth posting again. Enjoy!

One of the best saw players in the world is the marvelous Gladys Hulot from France. She is also a great theremin player and artist. Her videos are fun and creative, and here, you can see her play two instruments, the saw and the theremin. She is playing a lame sonore, French for “singing blade.” The lame sonore is a type of musical saw that is usually heavier steel than a regular handsaw and has no teeth. Because of this, these saws have a fuller sound. Many saw players also play the theremin because the sound is similar to a saw, and both instruments require tremendous concentration. A slight movement while playing either instrument can cause an unwanted change in pitch. Gladys makes it look easy, but it isn’t. She’s incredibly talented. Take a few minutes to listen. Happy Halloween!
